more than a stranger, less than a friend

more than a stranger, less than a friend it does feel stranger to call you a friend more than a stranger, less than a friend not a bond that failed to mend

so we broke when we couldn't bend my last words in a letter unsent we were blindly following a trend too different to mix or blend

later on we would both ascend

to greater heights, like we'd intend there may be some residual loose ends but nothing worthwhile for us to defend

more than a stranger, less than a friend freed from the pressure of playing pretend more than a stranger, less than a friend what a great way for us to end
