one of the seven sins
blamed on people with thin skin
"you never said it wasn't okay"
while they trample over you on their way
but what about your anger?
why is it so easy to slander
your dignity as you stand there
trembling with a friendly stare
society said: “it’s impolite to rage":
so all you can do is smile, caged
watching as they rise at your expense
holding your tongue against better sense
painted glass, they portray you as a saint
your lips shut tight, in case you deign
to speak up. i feel bad, i'd rather not.
so before you call them out, you stop.
“it’s okay”, “actually, i don’t mind”
you say these words when it’s not fine
when what you really want to say is taboo
a quick and simple,
“f*** you"
